Lights,
Camera, Action! Climb on board the themed Theater-on-Wheels and let the
Hollywood experts entertain you with behind-the-scenes details and insider
gossip.
See your
favorite Boston movies and TV shows come to life as you visit their actual
filming locations. Not a movie buff? Boston Movie Tours is the only city
tour you need as we visit all the historic landmarks filmmakers love (Boston
Common, State House, North End, etc) Get
the inside track on Martin Scorsese's latest gangster movie, The Departed.
At least 10 locations including the building from the climatic rooftop
scene.

Haverhill -
This trip is provided in part by Port City Tours, a narrated driving tour of
Haverhill MA including Tattersall Farm, Winnekenni Castle,
Rocks Village Historic
District along the Merrimack River and the Washington Street Historic Shoe
District. After lunch at Kruger’s Flatbread (on your own) we
will visit the Buttonwoods Museum for a 45 minute tour and
then it’s off to the John Greenleaf Whittier Family Homestead Museum
before returning to Hamilton.
Leave at 9am and return around 4pm (this tour is limited to 11 people)

Salem Strolls – Midtown & McIntyre District
As Salem's wealth and population grew, the area now named for the renowned
architect and carver, Samuel McIntire, began to flourish and produce some of
the finest 18th and 19th century architecture on the East Coast. Join us as
we look at public buildings, residences, and houses of worship of this
glorious era. Our 90 minute tour (1 ˝ miles) will explore the downtown
with its unique collection of 19th century civic buildings, then go on to
walk the elegant Federal, Essex, Chestnut, and
Broad Streets
and quaint pathways in between. Lunch (on your own) at Rockefeller's
in the old Daniel Lowe’s building immediately following the tour.

Tuesday October 6
Portsmouth Harbor
Trail and River Cruise
Guided, narrated 1 mile, 1 1/4 hour walking tour of Portsmouth harbor
named a "Yankee magazine Best of New England 2009 Editors Choice".
Walk through Portsmouth's historic downtown and hear fascinating stories of
early settlers, patriots, ship builders, and entrepreneurs. Unlike those who
settled other colonies for religious reasons, they came to Portsmouth to
find their fortune. After a quick stop for lunch at Ollie's Cafe (on
your own) we will board the "Heritage" for a unique Inland
River & Fall Foliage Cruise - As we leave Portsmouth and head inland we
will pass all of New Hampshire's industrial waterfront. Cruise past tankers,
freighters and cable ships loading and unloading; past the remains of old
shipyards where military and merchant vessels were built throughout our
history. As we continue inland we head up into either Great Bay or the
Cocheco River into Dover. This beautiful tidal estuary remains largely
undeveloped. Come aboard this fall for a unique cruise into some of the
most picturesque scenery on the Seacoast. (Approximately 2-1/2 hours)

Friday, October 16 - Leaf Peepers
Foliage Tour
Your day begins with a stop at Smith's Country Cheese (nestled in a
picturesque spot on a hill in Winchendon NH) for a tour of the "cheese
making" process and sample some of Smith's famous baby goudas. Next stop is
the Inn at East Hill Farm in Troy NH for a family style
all you can eat meal of Pot Roast and Turkey (you get both) plus
all the fixins'! Originating in 1934, this beautiful inn is nestled at the
base of Mt. Monadnock. After lunch it's off to Allyson's Orchard
for a wagon ride and a slice of homemade apple pie!!
Leave the Community House at 8:00 am and return by 6:00 pm

Tuesday, November 3
National Heritage Museum and Wayside Inn
We will have a guided tour of the National Heritage Museum's "The Way
We Worked" exhibit. "The Way We Worked," a new traveling exhibition
featuring photographs from the National Archives focusing on the history of
work in America and documenting work clothing, locales, conditions, and
conflicts. The exhibition is divided into five sections: "Where We Worked,"
"How We Worked," "What We Wore to Work," "Conflict at Work," and "Dangerous
or Unhealthy Work." The exhibition is part of a 14-city national tour.
We will have a lovely lunch (on your own) at Longfellow's
Wayside Inn, known as the Howe Tavern from 1716 to 1861, is a
non-profit 18th century tavern, restaurant, inn, and museum on the National
Register of Historic Places. Maybe a stop at Mahoney’s Garden Center
on the way home.

"Nunsense"

Kennebunkport Christmas
Celebrate Kennebunkport's Christmas Prelude; a magical holiday celebration
for all generations. This spectacular event recreates the spirit and joy of
Christmas, returning to the times of Dickens complete with twinkling lights,
snow covered greenery, festive decorations and the coastal spirit of
Kennebunkport. This authentic seaside celebration has gained national
recognition having been featured on the Today Show and written up in
countless national publications. Festive decorations and bright lights
adorn every shop, tree and light pole... swags, bows and greenery!
Your prelude Celebration includes an old English holiday feast at the
Kennebunkport Inn followed by a guided tour of this very scenic and festive
area and then some free time for holiday shopping in Dock Square.

Community House Speaker Series
This series will feature prominent representatives from a number of
different disciplines including local history, politics, science, animal
behavior, sports figures of note, the arts and more...
An eclectic mix with something for everyone, please keep an eye out!
The Community House will be adding food for thought with our new Speaker
Series. These morning segments will run once or twice a month and are
intended for anyone hoping to get the inside scoop on a number of different
topics. Each speaker will bring a wealth of information. Sessions will be
held in a relaxed environment with coffee and tea. Extra time will be
available for or open discussion or a question/answer session.
