Basic Dog Obedience Training
Starts Monday, October 5, 7:00 -8:00 pm
The majority of the dog training is done on-leash. At the end of this phase your dog will know Sit, Stay, Come, Heel, Down, Off, Leave it, and Place. Your dog will follow all these commands during distractions and without food bribes. When in heel (walk next to me) your dog will happily pay attention to which directions you choose to walk and stay with you. During Basic Obedience you will never hit or yell at your dog. All corrections are done (sparingly) and copious amounts of praise and love will be used to reinforce wanted behavior. http://www.BeyondTheLeash.com

Canine Nosework Class
K9 Nosework starts Monday, October 5, 8:00 -9:00 pm
A brand new sport and skill for you and your dog. Dogs learn to find a target odor and tell you they have found it. Dogs have an amazing sense of smell and a natural desire to hunt. This class focuses on teaching you how to encourage and develop your dog’s natural scenting abilities by using their desire to hunt and their love of toys, food and exercise. It's a great class for your dog to have fun, build confidence, and burn lots of mental and physical energy and to find out just how good is your dog’s nose. http://BeyondTheLeash.net

Hamilton-Wenham School of Dance will be opening a second studio upstairs at the Community House this September.  The main studio will still be located in the Shoppes at Hamilton Crossing, where many of the creative movement and middle and high school dance classes will be held.  The Community House studio will be primarily for ballet classes for first, second and third graders as well as some Modern Dance for 5th and 6th graders.

If you'd like to see a schedule of all the classes and find out more about the school, visit her website at Hamilton Wenham School of Dance There is a tab giving information about the Community House programs as well as information about faculty, tuition, dress code and more.

Hamilton-Wenham School of Dance was founded in 1992 by Katy Brunault, with only 12 students in the main hall at the Community House.  As more classes were added the school moved over to the upstairs space in the plaza. The enrollment has since grown to 325 students taking classes in ballet, pointe, modern dance, jazz and creative movement. The resident company, Allegro Dance Ensemble, has performed in area schools and at the Community House for various events.

The instructors at HWSD teach correct technique while instilling a love of dance in their students. The emphasis is on expression and artistry rather than competition. Performance opportunities are available to older students including recitals, participation in local performances of "The Nutcracker," and community events. High school students with significant experience in ballet can  audition for Allegro Dance Ensemble, the resident company of HWSD.

Katy Brunault, Director of Hamilton-Wenham School of Dance, welcomes phone calls from interested people who would like to enroll in the classes. Call 978-468-2393 for more information.
